Volunteers are essential to Backpack Buddies’ success. From packing bags to delivering them to schools, each role helps ensure children receive the nourishment they need to thrive outside the classroom.

Whether you volunteer weekly, monthly, or as part of a group, your time directly supports students in your community. Corporate teams, families, churches, and individuals are all encouraged to get involved.

Packing Bags

Packing bags takes place every Tuesday morning during the school year at Vick Accounting, where volunteers work together to assemble backpacks filled with weekend meals. This role is hands-on, meaningful, and perfect for individuals or groups looking to make an immediate impact.

Corporate teams and staff groups are welcome and often participate as part of community outreach efforts. Each packed bag represents a child who won’t go hungry over the weekend.

Delivering Bags

Delivering bags ensures food reaches students safely and on time. Volunteers assist with transporting packed backpacks to local schools, working closely with school staff to maintain confidentiality and care.

This role is ideal for individuals with reliable transportation who want to support Backpack Buddies beyond packing days. Every delivery helps maintain consistency and trust with our school partners.

Organizing a Food Drive

Food drives are a powerful way to rally your community around a shared cause. Backpack Buddies can help guide churches, businesses, schools, and civic groups through the process of organizing a successful drive.

We provide guidance on acceptable items, promotion ideas, and drop-off coordination to ensure your food drive directly benefits local children. Food drives not only stock shelves — they spread awareness and inspire collective action.
